For Anonymous: Karen Carpenter Story DVD

Anonymous asked [some time ago]: Can I buy 'The Karen Carpenter Story' DVD anywhere?
The short answer is "no." Although it was once available on video (Laser disc and VHS) in Japan, it has never been released in the US. I have not heard that it was ever released on DVD in any format, but, if it has, it still wouldn't play on US players. To the best of my knowledge, there is no legal way of obtaining a licensed copy on DVD, though it still might be aired on TV from time to time.
Sorry. Apparently, Richard Carpenter was very sorry it was made (though he contributed to it) and does not want it released in the US (though that is a rumor, not a fact).
The more important question is not whether you can buy it, but why you would want to?
It is available. I did a google search and found it for sale:

I would want it...
thx for the link.
Lola, I tried to be specific. The site you pointed to provides a DVD copy from the show taped off the television. It is, therefore, illegal and unlicensed. Someone may get it there anyway, but I can't advocate it.
I'm with you, Stephanie... hate pirated stuff.
I'm not surprised her brother had a change of heart... Hollywood doesn't tend to make any story what it should be, and it's already a sad story. I get the shivers just thinking what Hollywood would do to one of my own stories.
